I just got an email to one of my work addresses from the WTP4WTP.org group, welcoming me to their organization "of 1.3 million and growing!".

I've never heard of them before, although it must be admitted that I don't really pay much attention to that sort of thing. But this email is for certain the first contact I've ever had with them, and for them to create a Membership for me, and then tell me about it, makes me think that their claims of both size and of being a collective representing their members are both bogus.

My question is: ever heard of them? Are they evil, or just very bad at writing first contact emails?

Don't know anything about them, but if you google "WTP4WTP," you'll see several hits on their website, some on garbage websites, and your query near the top of the second page of hits.

A tiny bit of further poking suggests an attempt at astroturf that hasn't been launched yet. No names associated at all, mailing address on email tied to a nameless PLLC in North Carolina that is most likely a drop center.

Maybe whoever it is just liked the domain name....
