English Spelling and Pronunciation

Any time I feel frustrated with the rules and customs for learning another language (a skill I've never managed to accomplish), I only need to compare with English spelling and pronunciation.

And here's a marvelous poem that really underscores the situation:

I think it's grossly unfair to include any proper nouns in such a thing, as, world-wide (as far as I know) names of people and places might or might not follow any known rule or expectation.

Otherwise, it's charming. Thanks for posting the link.

That's getting up into "Eye of Argon" territory in read-aloud-ability.

It sometimes seems to a traveler that everyone in the world who does not yet speak English is trying to learn it. I am bowled over with compassion for them.
