I like learning, but I really REALLY don't like skidding on the learning curve.

It's been a frustrating morning, and it's not yet 6:30.

grumble... I need a frowny-face Userpic ...

"I like learning, but I really REALLY don't like skidding on the learning curve."

What a great line! May I quote you?

P.S.
Hope the learning road straightens out soon, and that future curves remain skid-free.

Re: P.S.
If quoting me is ever useful to anyone, I heartily encourage them to do so!

I greatly fear that my probably response is to poke at the problem with a small stick, instead of the really necessary leap into the abyss. I suppose I should just be grateful that running an ISP is not, actually, in my job description.

But I'm still going to hunt down a frowny-face icon for later...

It's not a frowny face, but this icon is shareable with credit to lysana, who made it.

A couple of days ago a website I monitor went down. It seemed likely that the problem was at the host, but I really wanted to be able to say more than "It worked an hour ago, now it doesn't, and we didn't change anything."

Just paging through FAQs and help sites made it clear that my chasms of ignorance are so vast that I don't even know what to ask for. I was a little sad to realize that I also didn't really want to launch into this vast new territory.

And the website was back just as soon as the hosting company was informed of the problem...
