Do you read books?

OK, that's a silly question. Let's try: Do you read speculative fiction books? How about comics and/or graphic novels?
What are some of your favorite resources for choosing what to buy or read next?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Any answer I might give to this, you probably already know about me.

Buzz-- in the old days, Usenet buzz, these days, Livejournal or blog buzz-- often alerts me to books or authors that might interest me. Though it often takes five or ten years before I actually read a hotly-touted novel.

In some cases, long before I actually read a book by an author I'd probably like, I find myself on a panel with him or her.

In my to-be-read pile are books by old Net friends who have since become novelists.

We have a short shelf in the guest room of "books by authors who have stayed in our house;" I have read most of these.

Since I started writing history, nonfiction has eaten into my fiction-reading time (there's a neverending list of books I think I should read for research), while Internet-reading has encroached upon both.
