Poll #1663182 What interests you?

I don't make resolutions, and if I did they wouldn't be tied to New Years anyway, but I do enjoy the impetus to look back, peer forward, and reflect. And one conclusion I've reached is that I really do need to speak up more, write down more, and just generally make that extra effort of outreach. So, my question to LiveJournal readers is, what topics are you most interested in, what would you like to see me post about?

stories from the old bookstore
thoughts on the bookselling marketplace
thoughts about the ebook market
reviews of books
reviews of webcomics
reviews of anime
reviews of manga
long point by point on why I closed the shop
photos of my three cats
more details on what I'm up to now

The best frequency of posting is:

Once per day
Three times a week
Once a week
Whenever is better than never
Once an hour
Comments are always welcome, as are suggestions for the best ways to reach out to people.

Anime and crunchyroll

I have been a fan of anime Collapse )

The last few years have been different - my main laptop is old, and doesn't play videos as well as it might. Youtube and hulu are less than fun on it. Working on my MBA also meant that I didn't really have the time to give to them, or the money to buy new DVDs.

But now school is finished, and while I still have to put off buying new media for a while, I was gifted by my fabulous boss (who shares my addiction) with a paid membership to crunchyroll.com. I immediately dived in and spent many fun hours watching Natsume Yujincho, Uraboku and Otome Yokai Zakuro. I looked forward to trying out some of the other programs we talked about at work.

At least, until last week, when crunchyroll apparently has become overwhelmed with their own success. Or something. Videos load very slowly, then freeze. Yet there are almost no posts about it on their forums. I've tried the usual run of bandwidth tests and it certainly seems to be all on their end. Not a good position for a company that's relying on providing content to survive. I hope they get it together.

And then I'll watch more anime!
