I have (had?) a big, bushy arbutus tree in front of the house. This morning it was all the way down to the ground. To my surprise, the root ball still seems well-anchored and knocking the weight of snow off brought it lurching up somewhat. I'll wait until this weekend and the expected melt-off to tether the thing upright again.
Meanwhile - school is closed, the planned weeding outside with the guy who does our yardwork is postponed, and maybe I'll really get farther in cleaning the house!

But when he said he mostly wanted to make a snowman so that he could knock it over I pointed out the many many snowbound bushes awaiting his hitty stick. He hasn't come back in since...
The trees, luckily, have shed their snowload with the morning winds. Or we would have really had problems.
