More tired than usual

This last week, from Sunday early AM to late Friday night, was spent off at a retreat organized by my MBA grad school. It was exhausting, enlightening, emotional and informative. Classes ran from 8:30 to 8:00, with breaks and with meals provided, in the very fancy Salish Lodge.

This was both the launch of the hardcore Business Admin set of courses and the wrapup and commencement of the Leadership training part. Since ELP had spent so much energy on personal reflection and transformation, and since seven people from my cohort are not continuing on with the MBA portion, this was a pretty emotional and somewhat sad occasion. We all know the chances are slim of spending much time with these people in the future. And yet the pressures of the new classes sweep us along.

The other thing that happened last week is that Seattle U has posted another job opening that I'm interested in. While the pay isn't enough to allow Mike to just stay home and slack, this would cover medical insurance and would be able to adjust to my continuing schedule needs for grad school. I've already pulled aside and spoken to all the folks I know that already work there, and while none of them are in that department, they've said they'll do what they can. So hope runs high.

I meant to drive over to Seattle for the Emerald City Comicon today, but I was just too wiped. Tomorrow for sure. One weird, almost uncomfortable, part about this is that I'm not really sure what I'm going to do once I get there. I do remember loving going to conventions before I started working them, but now I can hardly recall how I spent my time. The Foglio's haven't asked for help this year, and all the folks I know are going to be behind table working, so there's not going to be much of a chance to hang out.

Anyone else run into this?
