All That Profiling Pays Off

Amazon knows me so well, even though I hardly ever order anything from them.

This morning their email suggested I would like Gunnerkrigg Court Vol. 2: Research. That's not surprising, since I bought Vol. 1 from them. (And they're quite right, I would indeed buy Vol. 2 right this moment if I felt comfortable spending money on books - but it will have to wait.)

It was their "you may also like" that made me realize that they know what I like even though I've never ordered any of these other titles from them:

The Splendid Magic of Penny Arcade: The 11 1/2 Anniversary Edition
Girl Genius Vol. 8: Agatha Heterodyne and the Chapel of Bones
Yotsuba&!, Vol. 8

Well, it's not so much knowing you, it's correlating the titles that you have bought with titles that other people who have bought those titles have bought.

Well, I found a composer new to me this way, whose music I found quite enjoyable, rather like the more classical of Windham Hill.
